It was a rematch of week four as the Mavs played the Judson Rockets in the first game of playoffs, but this time the Mavs didn’t go down as easy.

“Words can’t even describe how it felt [to beat Judson],” running back Marquis Warford said. “It’s just great coming out out with the victory.”

The Mavs put in perhaps the most thrilling game in recent memory. The game had it all, and the night was capped by a game winning drive lead by quarterback Justin Jones.

“It felt great especially since we lost to them in regular season, and not many thought we were going to win,” Jones said.

After a two-point conversion the Mavs took a 25-24 lead with 37 seconds remaining, and the Rockets failed to come back.

“I knew we were going to score we had a minute left and the way the drive was going, I just knew we were going to win,” receiver Alex Smisek said.

After the dramatic conclusion to the game, the team is setting their focuses onto East Central who they play this weekend in round two of the playoffs. Friday’s game kickoff is at 7:30 at East Central.

“I feel pretty confident,” running back Marquis Warford said. “If  we play and practice like we did last week we will go far.”
