Orchestra Heralds Winter Concert Season

By Victoria Guerrero

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The holiday concerts were like visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads as Orchestra kicked off the season with their annual winter concert on Dec. 6 before the winter break.

“It gives the kids the opportunity to play different music that’s different genres they wouldn’t normally play,” conductor and teacher Don Bustos said.

The orchestras performed everything from ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ to the Transiberian Orchestra with electric guitars. Since the band winds and drums volunteered a hand, the concert took a great deal of planning.

“We’ve had our music for at least a month now,” senior Shirley Flores said.

Despite the extra work, performers really enjoyed the experience.

“I liked getting to play with the other orchestras,”  freshman Kiona Pickmen said.
