On Oct. 25, the Maverick choir hosted Fall Fest after school at the Performing Arts Center (P.A.C). This concert gave the students a chance to show their parents how much they have improved their musical skill.

“It was exciting doing my first concert,” junior kantorei choir member Joshua Rivera said. “To be singing on a stage with everybody watching you is truly an exhilarating experience.”

The choir sang in concert the music that they are competing with in region. They have been practicing these complex melodies in multiple languages since Sept. 20.

“They are really fun songs to songs to do and really challenging,” junior nouvelle choir member Kiera Bierschwale said. “We had to learn the language and learn how to pronounce them as well as sing them.”

A special performance that warmed the hearts of many, the choir director’s adolescent daughter took center stage amongst the choir. The top band member of Tejeda Middle School Micaela Murphy played a talented solo with her oboe instrument.

“The Nouvelle and Melodie combined choirs sang a sweet song that featured an oboe soloist,” maverick choir director Michael Murphy said. “I was very fortunate to have my own 13 year old daughter perform the solo.”
