Ravens and 49ers Face Off In Superbowl

By Richard Hernandez

Every team, every player, every fan, and every city hopes that their team can make it to the most publicized Sunday in America, for the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers this dream has become a reality.

After a long 16 game season and a brutal post season, that saw many battles between teams, these two teams have endured the longest and now have a chance to win the NFL championship on the biggest stage of the year. The Ravens, led by Ray Lewis, coming fresh off a win against Superbowl veterans the New England Patriots, look to win their second Superbowl on Feb 3. The Ravens however face the San Francisco 49ers, an organization that is familiar to the Superbowl. The 49ers are headed to their first Superbowl since 1994 and are looking to bring home their sixth trophy.

The 49ers have marched their way into the Superbowl behind their quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick seemingly came out of nowhere. After an injury to starting quarterback Alex Smith, Kaepernick came in and impressed coaches, making him the permanent starter. Since then, he hasn’t let them down. Kaepernick has handled himself very well throughout the playoffs and his diversity might make him a hassle for the Ravens defense.

However, the Ravens have become known for their tough defense and with linebacker Ray Lewis looking to win his second Superbowl, the 49er offense will have a lot on their plate. The Ravens offense is also very versatile with a hard-nosed running game and a big-play-capable passing game. The 49 defense will have a lot on their plate as well.

The Superbowl has grown from more than just a game, and on Feb 3, the NFL Champions will be named. Will it be the Baltimore Ravens or San Francisco 49ers? We’ll find out on Superbowl Sunday.
