Urban energy charged the night sky as both new and old generations come together for a single night to experience the timelessness of Rock ‘N’ Roll.

Madison Avenue choir group won a local radio contest and has been graciously gifted with the honor of singing along side classic rock band Foreigner in concert at the Majestic Theatre on April 15.  Rock legends Foreigner started in 1976 by drummer Dennis Elliott, vocalist Lou Gramm, bassist Ed Gagliardi, synthesizer Al Greenwood, guitarist Mick Jones and Ian McDonald. Over a course of 32 years, Foreigner released 9 memorable albums and became music icons that will forever influences future generations. Foreigner paid the a capella group five hundred dollars for singing back up and allowed them to run a fundraiser for their International Championship of High School A Capella in New York City by selling  Foreigner cds.

At seven-thirty p.m, the choir started off the show by performing a capella songs. Their impressive performance proved to everyone why their talent for perfect pitch and precise dancing formations deserved national recognition. Afterwards, Foreigner came on stage and realizing how tame it is to be sitting in a rock concert, they invited the audience to get up from their seats to gather in front of the stage. By mixing viewers who didn’t have enough money to afford front row seats with people who could, Foreigner emphasized the fact that everybody are just one big rock family and to unite everyone to enjoy the music. Another great quality of Foreigner is that they are extremely interactive. Not only do they run into the crowd, high five spectators and throw out prizes to the audience such as guitar picks and drum sticks but Foreigner gets the high school youth involved when both Foreigner and Mad Av sang “I Want To Know What Love Is” on stage.

In conclusion, Foreigner outdid themselves in this concert. Though the band has been around for decades, their visible energy on stage  and the same impeccable sound from when they first started in the 70’s showed that their age went slow them down. The talented Madison Avenue brought pride to our school with amazing skill and rhythmic abilities that only a true maverick can display.
