Varsity Volleyball on a Winning Streak

By Mackenzie Wallace

As the final buzzer cut through Littleton Gym last Tuesday, the varsity volleyball team celebrated the hard earned victory against Champion High School with a final score of 3-2. This however, is only one of many recent victories celebrated by the Lady Mavs.

The varsity volleyball players have been putting in the hard work and team effort that is necessary to bring home several consecutive wins, including recent victories against both Taft and Holmes High School. This leaves the team standing at 16-11.

“They’re doing very good and are coming together as a family,” Shannon Wolfe, head volleyball coach, stated.

Preparation for each game proved to be important to its final outcome. Shelby Sandoval, sophomore varsity volleyball player, described how they get ready before a game.

“We prepare as a team, so we are always trying to get each other going,” Sandoval said. “It goes without saying that we get really crazy, but it works!”

On and off the court, these girls are highly dedicated to their team. They keep each other motivated throughout each match and always put their team before themselves.

“I’m determined not to let my team down,” Sandoval said. “Mistakes happen, but it’s keeping each other motivated on the court that matters.”

Let there be no mistake though, that the Madison varsity volleyball team will go far this season. They will begin district play on Friday at 7:00 against Churchill in the Churchill gym.
