After 23 years of serving as football coach, Jim Streety decided to move on to a new position as athletic director at New Braunfels ISD.
To honor the legendary coach, a pep rally was held Friday to reflect on his time here. Former players returned to compete against current students, even Streety himself, in games such as the Quarterback Toss and Field Goal Frenzy. Many other guests made appearances to speak about Streety’s accomplishment as a coach, such as Gordon Gesell, who used to work as a coach along side Streety, and Jerry Comalander, who serves as the Executive Athletics Director for the district.
Band, cheer, dance, and football players also showed up to honor the former coach. The cheerleaders tossed t-shirts, made special for the occasion, up into the stands for students. Students gathered in the D.E.M.A.C to give one last honor to a man who stuck with this school for 23 years.
