Pep Rally Excites Students

As students arrived to school today they might have noticed the band playing or the cheerleaders chanting, or maybe they noticed the crowd of students surrounding the outside amphitheater. By the time the football players made their way to the stage, students realized they were in a pep rally.

“[Pep Rallies] bring everyone together. First off you learn some Madison traditions, such as the fight song and the JM sign,” assistant principal Roberto Ozuna said.

Solar Car Project Brings Students Together

Going in to summer vacation, Dr. Joe Dungan and a group of 12 students, former students, and even a pair of UTSA students, were all hard at work building a solar car. They didn’t let summer slow them down. The group worked hard into the summer and accomplished their goal of finishing the solar car.

Freshman Volleyball Earns Another Win

On Aug. 11 the freshman Lady Mavs and the freshman T-birds from Wagner went head to headm and both the A-team and B-team came away with wins.

The B-teams competed first. The Lady Mavs held the lead all the way to the end of the game, ending at 25-9. Period two also ended with a 25-12 victory. After the game coach Casey Spence gathered the girls in a circle and told them how proud she was.

Final Harry Potter Casts a Spell on Fans

Seven previous movies spanning a decade, billions of dollars made, millions of diehard fans, and an epic journey have all lead Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and fans to the conclusion of one of the biggest franchises ever. Harry Potter fans, or “Potterheads” as they are often referred to, lined up in flocks to witness the end of the journey they grew up with. Fans weren’t left disappointed.

10 teachers Set to Retire at End of Year

For teachers, retiring is a bittersweet experience. After this year closes, they get to go on and enjoy life and be free of their teaching duties. At the same time, there will be a part of them that will miss their faculty and the school they committed their years to.

After three years of enduring the forever long TAKS week, seniors finally got the chance to kick back and relax. During TAKS week there were multiple activities planned for the seniors. On Wednesday April 27 seniors united as one in the auditorium for a memorable day of speeches, movies, a talent show and the infamous superlative announcement.
