What is International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) is the day we celebrate everything about women. It has been celebrated for over a century, having started on March 8th, 1911. We celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all over the world. For over a century, the day has been growing stronger and stronger. This day is about unity, celebration, reflection, and action. The day belongs to every group around the world. No one group is solely responsible for this day.

IWD is different for everybody, but the global goal is to focus on equality.

For along as we know women have tried everything to redress inequality. Women have made many well documented stands and demonstrated humble resistance.  Most of the women’s activism for their rights are not in the history books. Still, women have united for equality and achievement.

As a result of everything we have endured, women across countries have come together in hope and action with ‘International Women’s Day.”
