At the request of homebound senior Dominic Duran, PALS hosted a dodgeball game to raise money for the Livestrong Foundation on Wednesday, April 10 in the Littleton Gym.
Dominic, who is currently battling testicular cancer, asked that proceeds from the $2 admission fee of the game be donated to the Livestrong Foundation. Dominic’s junior brother, Christian, said the tournament was not necessarily all for Dominic.
“PAL members just had the idea to donate the money raised to the LiveStrong foundation, being that my brother has cancer,” Christian said.
Teams of six played until only one team was left standing to take the winning trophy. Freshman Payton Turbyfill said he was determined to win, although his team did not advance after the third round.
“We played just to have fun and bring a dodgeball trophy home,” freshman Payton Turbyfill said. “To win as all freshmen would have been awesome. We don’t all know Dominic Duran, but we also played for him.”
Sophomore Caleb Soto also played on all-sophomore team to support Dominic.
“I asked to play on that team because Dominic is of my close friends,” Soto said.
According to Christian, the tournament was a success.
“It was rad,” Christian said.
