High Scores in Grades and Games

     In DATA, students this weekend will be studying hard, focusing on school work; well, at least the students not at the LAN party.

     The LAN party is a DATA fundraiser for Science Olympiad. This party is an overnight event from 7pm on the  25th to 7am on the  26th. The students play all kinds of video games and converse. To sign up for the LAN party DATA students must be passing all their classes and sign up for it in front of Mrs. Nagle’s office. 

    “To attend the Lan party, after you pay the fee, you must be passing all classes, core and elective,” Stacia Fitzsimon, DATA Director, said

     Though students have to focus on school work to get into the LAN party, once they are there, homework is the last thing on their minds.

     “We remove all the furniture and put up projectors and game consoles in their place,the the kids just go crazy. They play basically any kind of game you can think of, and eat and play and talk and sleep, its a ton of fun,” Fitzsimon said.

    There are two LAN parties a year, the first being during the day and the second, this one, an overnight event.

    “The last LAN party was awesome. It went from 9am to 9pm. We ate hot dogs and nachos [the snack of choice for this LAN party too], and its went very well,” Fitzsimon said. “But the hardest part for this LAN party, at least for the adults, will be staying up all night; you kids are playing games and talking but we have to stay up all night through it all.”
