Review: Pac Man and Ghostly Adventure

Pac is Back…but sadly, it’s not much of a good return.

Pac Man and the Ghostly Adventure was released in late October of 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 consoles. It was made to bring a new spin to Pac Man to catch the interest on this new generation of gaming.

Pac Man (who is like a Pac boy in this game) now takes on the approach of a 3D platformer rather than an arcade maze. This is revamped platforming similar to the gameplay in the Pac Man world series, however, the game is far from 100 percent done due to it being a rushed job. There aren’t many glitches and the game looks wonderful, however the gameplay is so dull, you can tell it was a rushed job.

Loosely based off of the…decent TV series (I’m being nice, even as a hardcore Pac Man fan) on Disney XD, the game has an original story that takes place in the show’s universe, and does look pretty similar to the show, sometimes better.

I can really only recommend this game to hardcore Pac Man fans ONLY, otherwise you might not find enjoyment in this game. I also recommend the Wii U version as it is in my opinion the best port of the game; the 3DS version is different entirely.

Overall, I’m happy that Pac Man is back as I feel we were lacking character and spirit in our generation. It’s a bit of a rusty start, but I feel like if a sequel is made, it will improve and Pac Man really will make a TRUE comeback.
