The last blood driIMG_0718ve was April 16.  With 93 units that day, students and staff donated a total of 404 units this school year, 108 more units than last year.

“Donating blood made me feel better about myself knowing that I may have saved lives,” junior Tyra Perez said.

Each unit of blood donated has the capability of saving three lives. The South Texas Blood and Tissue center was down to a one-day supply of 0 negative blood type.

Student Council is planning four blood drives for next year, and Sponsor Patricia Sewell said “is confident that we will exceed the number of units we made in 2014.”
