Parents, Teachers Meet At Greenback Night

Greenback night was a night of teachers meeting parents and discussing with them how they teach their students and the parents getting to know the teachers for a brief moment.

“We had a great turn out this year as more parents attended the greenback night,” lead counselor Michelle Howard said.

Howard estimated between 300-400 parents and students attended.

“Green Back Night last night was really nice. There was a great showing of parents and students. The teachers appeared happy to be meeting with the families and discussing their students” English Teacher Mary Thompson said.

After picking up their schedules, parents went to a PTSA meeting in the auditorium and then wandered the campus meeting their children’s teachers in designated areas. English, Social Studies and Math classes met in Rough Rider, Art and Science met in AS, and electives met in the cafeteria. Many teachers had food to share with families.

“It was really nice I got to meet more people,” senior Shanasea Gunnels said. “My mom loved it  she got to know all my teachers, Culinary Arts had cookies. My best choice was Snicker-Doodles, I got to learn about the new groups Roosevelt had.”
