Bowling tryouts last week welcomed seven boys and four girls as new players.

Coming off a year when the girls team went to state, they are rebuilding the team with only one returning boy and two returning girls.

“I’ve always liked bowling and working with and in a team,” said  senior Nalette Rondon.  “I also don’t want to disappoint anyone but mainly me.”

As the season moves forward, the team will practice weekly to perfect their skills.

“We practice on how to handle the ball and work on developing a good form to bowl with,” campus bowling sponsor Steve Willaford said.

Willaford  is on a league himself. He bowls on the weekends and when has free time during the holiday breaks. For many of the students on the team, it is also a lifelong sport.

“Bowling  is fun and I’ve been bowling since I was four,” junior Chris Henderson said.

The bowling team may not be a UIL sport but it is still very competitive.

There are five to six coaches for the team. Each coach will help each bowler get better at their form and how they handle a ball. Linda Henderson, one of the coaches for the girls, will help mainly with the form of each bowler. Coach AC Jones is one of the coaches for the boys and he helps with aim.

As of right now there is no set schedule for practices and meets will be or start. Districts are in the spring and regionals  are in March.
