Exemption forms for finals available today
By Juan Villanueva |
Students now have less than 3 weeks to prepare for semester exams.
Finals will take place during the third week of December (15-19). This week is also the last week students will spend at school before they are released for the two-week Winter Break.
While some students say they are ready to take their finals, others say they aren’t.
“It’s only three weeks away; I hope I’m ready,” freshman Alex Armenta said.
Exemption of finals is available, but requires certain requirements. A student’s grade, number of tardies and absences will determine if he/she qualifies for exemption in a certain course.
In other words, the more absences and tardies a student has, the higher their grade will have to be to be able to exempt.
Exemptions forms will be available in the AP’s office starting today and must be turned in by Friday Dec. 5 before 4:30. If a student fails to turn in the exemption form by that time, the exemption will be voided.
For any questions a student has about exemption, he/she can refer to the “Frequently Asked Question” sheet that is also available in the AP’s office along with the “NEISD Exam Exemption Guidelines”.
“I think semester exams are a useful assessment of students’ learning comprehension,” said English Teacher Mrs. Bass. “However, exemption is a great motivation to strive students to do well.”
