The event took place at 8 a.m. and around 60 students got an award.

The awards consist of the Perseverance, Integrity, Commitment, and the Kindness award. All awards are valued the same. A student’s goal is to get the four awards during their four years in the DATA Program.

“I felt like it was rewarding to get acknowledged and it was nice to see everybody else get recognized for the characteristics that DATA has instilled in us,” senior Miranda Garza said.

Students can only be picked for one award per year which means teachers are responsible for picking different students after every grading period ends.

“I think it’s great, recognizing students is a good way to enforce the values we feel are important here in the DATA Program at Roosevelt,” Director Russ Claughton said.
