He plays basketball, works out every morning at 04:00 and also cherishes his family.

“I’m a family man; family means a lot,” he said.

To provide for that family Officer Donald Smith chose to work at this school; he loves spending time with his co workers and the students. He loves being a cop, even though it comes with a few obstacles.

“I’ll be driving down the street and people will stand up from the bus stop and put their hands up,” Smith said. “And I’m just trying to get some food.”

Even though the past year has been a difficult time for police in this country, he says is doing the best he can to prove people wrong. He loves to see his students succeed.

“The work he does for us at Roosevelt is inspiring, being an officer in this generation is hard and that is why I admire him,” says senior Edgar Rios.

His coworkers also admire him.

“He is a really good guy, very dependable, such a great team player,” officer Lopez said. “He is an officer I would take a bullet for, and that says a lot.”
