Four top athletes honored at National Signing Day

The auditorium was filled with a sense of pride Wednesday morning as students, teachers, coaches, and family all gathered together to see four of the school’s top student athletes participate in national college signing day, joining the likes of the nation’s top high school prospects and officially declaring what college they will  be continuing their athletic careers.

These four signees are

Ashley Lockamy signing to Sam Houston State University for softball, Jeremy Jones who will be playing football for the University of the Incarnate Word, Nathaniel Dillard playing football for Cisco College and Devin Mendez who has signed to play football for Texas A&M University Kingsville.

“Roosevelt gave me the discipline and character that I needed to be able to push myself to get to where I needed to go,”  Mendez said.

Each of these athletes will always remember some special moments made throughout their four years in high school as they continue onto the next level. For Lockamy, it was the bus rides with teammates.

“The best part about softball is making a special connection with your teammates, Lockamy said.


Wednesday was a day full of smiles, tears of joy, and lots of congratulations for these student athletes as they made their next step towards a new part of their lives.
