Five wrestlers advance to region

Last weekend the varsity wrestlers went to Districts with the school placing in fourth in NEISD with 123 points. Five students qualified for region including Josh Wynn who placed third place in weight class 138. Also Abram Guardiola placed second in weight class 285, winning three out of five matches.

One of Guardiola’s matches was intense lasting around 15 minutes with just that one match. Jeff Hooks placed third, winning three matches and losing one in weight class 170.

“Wrestling is a very complicated sport,” Hooks said. “It is not for the weak. We’re all like a family we have all grown to each other since the beginning of the year.”

Also qualifying for region are Ricardo Arteaga and Chance Marquez. Regionals starts tomorrow at 8:15 at Blossom Athletic Center and continue into Saturday.
