After hearing her sister’s friend had been involved in Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, she decided she had to participate.

Along with her sister Christina Wait, who is a student at the University of Texas at Austin, Angela shaved her head and donated her hair.

“I’m proud of myself; I’m proud of other people and how others know this is a problem and are working to solve it,” Angela said.

During last week, Wait also collected money to fund the volunteer-driven charity who works on finding cures for childhood cancers.

The event took place April 12 at UT Austin and involved many people including the university’s own students.

People of all ages participated since the event welcomed everyone.

When asked if she would shave her head again, Angela gladly said maybe.

“I might do it again my senior year,” she said.

Saint Baldrick hosts many events similar to this one all around the United States and is open to anyone.

Later this year on Sept 27, San Antonio will host a Saint Baldrick’s event.

The Third Annual Rockets for Research will be held at STAR Soccer Complex located next to Heroes Stadium.

For anyone interested in donating or hosting an event, more information can be found in Saint Baldrick’s website at stbaldrick.org.

“I think it’s amazing that someone this young would not worry about the reaction of her peers to do something so magnificent for a worthy cause,” English Teacher Cynthia Bass said.” “It speaks volumes about her character and values.”
