The Summa Reception will include a total 49 Summas which is two more than last year’s 47.

A student must have a 100 or higher gpa average to qualify.

Summas must pick a teacher or educator whom they feel has impacted their life as a student in their school years to be recognized with them at the ceremony.

For students who want to become a Summa it is recommended that they start their freshman year since a Summa’s freshman score is 40 percent of their gpa.

“I feel proud because I accomplished one of my main goals of coming into high school,” Senior Adeniji Ongulana said.” “I’m pretty happy that Roosevelt feels pride in students, it’s nice to get acknowledged for doing well.”

The Summa Reception is the first of several ceremonies to honor achievements of seniors.

“I think all of the seniors are prepared for their next chapter in life; they are ready to on to college, military, workforce, etc,” DATA Counselor Carolyn Lockamy said.

The overall senior awards will be Thursday May 14.
