WWE: The End Of Summer And The Beginning Of Fall

By Angel Sabater |

On Sept. 23, at 3:22 a.m. the start of fall happened, and with that the end of WWE Summer Slam, on Sept. 20 with the WWE Night Of Champions, which was held at the Toyota Center in Houston.

This entertainment phenomenon started in the early 1950’s when founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondit and was later taken over on Feb. 21, 1980 by their son Vince Kennedy McMahon. The official name WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) changed, because of conflicts with WWF’s (World Wildlife Fund) trademark and changed to what is now WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). After years of being the Boss in WWE’s brand extension of Raw to Smackdown! McMahon’s daughter Stephanie McMahon had taken over along with her husband, WWE’s famous wrestler, Paul Michael Levesque aka Triple-H.

It has been 28 years, since 1988 when WWE SummerSlam had been first broadcasted and 28 years of main events or PPV (Pay-Per-View) events such as Royal Rumble (Since 1988), Survivor Series (Since 1987), Wrestlemania (Since 1985). Summerslam had taken place on Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and was only available on PPV and for free to new subscribers on the WWE Network. With only a monthly subscription of $9.99, subscribers will have 24/7 programing of all PPV events, including WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and TV shows like Total Divas, NXT and many more.

Over the years wrestlers come and go, like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, Andre The Giant, and Roddy Piper. Many of which became WWE Hall Of Famers. Here is the list of the ten matches that had taken place and the winners:

  • DCB (Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch) defeated Team Bella (Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, and Alicia Fox) and Team B.A.D. (Naomi, Sasha Banks and Tamina) in a Three-Team elimination match with the time of 15 minutes and 18 seconds.
  • Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro in a singles match with the time of 14 minutes and 21 seconds.
  • Lastly, the main event the Undertaker defeated Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) by submission (meaning Brock Lesnar gave in to the undertaker and passed out) in a singles match with the time of 17 minutes and 10 seconds. At first to distract the bell ringer the undertaker tapped out to Lesnar’s Kimura Submission and while the referee was on the other side he did not see Undertaker tap-out and made the match continue on, the undertaker took the chance of holding Lesnar into a Submission move and won the match. The controversy started at Wrestlemania 30, for 21 years of the Undertaker’s undefeated streak, that day he was then defeated by Brock Lesnar and thus made Undertaker come back to WWE a year later to rematch Brock Lesnar.

The next event will be WWE Live from Madison Square Garden on Oct. 3 of this year along with NXT Takeover: Respect on Oct. 7, 2015 at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. For more information on other events to come, go online to www.wwe.com.
