Spring time is coming and science teacher Misty Belmontez had a chance to work with Katy Philbrick and her DATA architect students to help design the TR Community Garden. Belmontez came to Philbrick and asked if this would be something her and her students would like to do as their first major project.

“We want this community garden to try and bring so many people together as one family,”  Belmontez said.

The students designed a space that would go on the bus circle area on the Rackspace side of campus.

“I love it, it is a really amazing chance for my students to work with a real client and be able to leave there mark on our school campus,” Philbrick said.

The garden project is currently competing for up to a $20,000 grant on the Seeds of Change website. The voting goes on until April 20, with the top 50 projects advancing to finals. People can vote once per day.

“It is a good thing for us to have for the students, community, and our school as well to come together as one, to take care of something we truly love,” Philbrick said.
