A new rhythm to follow

In the spring, band students got shocking news that one of the band directors would be leaving their position in the band. During the same time, the band had a special guest to welcome. A new student teacher joined the organization just before competing in UIL. No one imagined that he would be taking on the new position of a band director.

” I got to student teach here, I got to see how the program is run and I met all of you guys,” new Band Director, Louie Pereira said. ” It was essentially my first real teaching experience in front of a full ensemble and I got to connect with you guys and conduct.”

The time he spent here in spring allowed him to create some valuable relationships with students and other directors, which made the transition easier.

” He’s one of the best band directors I’ve ever had, he’s taught me a lot so far and he is pretty awesome,” sophomore, Russell Watson said.
