After beating Vista Ridge by two points on Tuesday, the varsity boys basketball team is looking forward to the next round, and reflecting on their steps to make it this far.

Senior John Maag scored 68 points  in the regular season.

“This [the basketball court] is a place where I can be myself,” Maag said.  Maag says he feels positive about the teams accomplishments for the year. “I feel great because we always do better,” Maag said.

After going 8-4 in district and finishing second place in district, it helped solidify the players’ decisions and goals.

“I feel like I’m getting to where I want to be with basketball,” junior Osiris Watson said.

For him basketball isn’t just a sport it is something that shapes him as a person. The new positive person he is becoming encourages the team. “We do well because we play well together,” he said.

Dedication and communication, he feels, contributed to the wins he and his team has shared this year.

Varsity Basketball’s next game will be held at the Alamo Convocation Center at 7 p.m. Friday where they will play Wagner.
