Best movie of the year almost brings a tear.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released Dec. 15, 2017.

Mark Hamill returns for the whole movie this time as Luke Skywalker, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, and Carrie Fisher makes her final cinematic appearance. The film was directed by Rian Johnson, who won the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival for his film, Brick. The shots were expertly composed; my favorite was the drone shot with the Rebel’s ships scraping the red salt.

The Empire is making a final attempt at squashing the union, and Luke is not apt to return to the battle, instead he trains Rey after discovering her to also be a Jedi. Meanwhile the rebels are fleeing the imperial forces, and running dangerously low on fuel. Rey is secretly communicating with Kylo Ren, until Luke catches them and they destroy the building. The lives of hundreds of rebels are undetermined.

While the writing was at times cheesy, the overall story was amazing, I rate this as the movie of the year.
