They beat Del Valle Dec. 18, and won a nailbiter against Central Catholic Dec. 15 in overtime.

It was a close game throughout, including a first-quarter buzzer-beater from senior Osiris Watson.

“It gave the crowd and my teammates a boost of energy which was exactly what was needed,” Watson said.

The wins were important for the team following a loss against Wagner last week.

On Tuesday Dec. 12, the boys basketball team played at Wagner High. They had hoped to avenge the losses they suffered last year in regular season and playoffs.

“ It was a lot selfishness and attitude on the court while we were playing.” sophomore Rashod Owens said. “ Next game we need to give a better effort out on the floor.”

As they move forward, the boys count on their coach to help them prepare for district.

“ I’m very relaxed on game days, because you should put all of your preparation into practices and games.” Coach Manny Flores said.
