FAFSA, scholarship deadlines approaching

Seniors! With a month of the new year already gone, the windows are closing for the Free Application For Student Aid. FAFSA gives eligibility for Pell Grants, which are given to students by the government based on need. The application opened on Oct. 1, 2017, and it is still open until June 30.

However, many schools award aid on a first-come, first-served basis, so the sooner and earlier you submit you application, the more money you are guaranteed (depending on your financial circumstances.) For help you can always go to the college and career center to talk to one of the advisors. Remember, the maximum you can receive is $5,328 in Pell Grant alone.

Speaking of advisors, Mr. Reynolds and Ms. Heller are having a drawing for anyone who reports earning a scholarship. The winner will get a pizza party. There are scholarships for ANYTHING. Scholarships also vary on the amount of money that will be awarded and many do have qualifications that have to be met. If you don’t know where to start or which ones to apply to, you can always make a visit to the Career Center.
