Lana Del Rey revisits old sound with new single

Singer/Songwriter Lana Del Rey recently broke a brief hiatus from music to release the single, “Mariners Apartment Complex,” the first single for her new album, Norman F—-ing Rockwell. While some believe Del Rey is embracing a new sound, there’s clearly a reminiscent under layer of her third studio album, Ultraviolence.

There is, however, a recurring theme that was captured in both the single and her last album, Lust for Life: a sense of bliss and tranquility. This is a significant difference compared to her previous albums that focused on toxic relationships and living with sadness. It’s refreshing and maturing: because she is maturing, and her fan base is as well.

Del Rey described the single drop as “end of summer jams” via her instagram, @lanadelrey; and that’s exactly what “Mariners Apartment Complex” is. The song gives off a carefree vibe that can be listened to while driving with the windows down, enjoying a lake with friends or simply in your room, nostalgic over the past summer months.
