Congratulations to two master teachers!

Mrs. Melissa Bauernfeind has been teaching 5th through 8th grade science for 16 years.  He was honored with the Trinity Prize for Wood Middle School this week.  She has also taught PE, pre school, and was a coach during the first five years of her tenure.  When asked about her proudest moment, Mrs. Bauernfeind stated,

“7 years ago when I was teaching simple machines in 5th grade.  I had a student who was autistic and I was doing hand signals to teach the machines and this particular student really grasped the concept.  The next year when he was a 6th grader he would walk by me, do the hand motion say “lever” and smile.  He still remembered what he learned”  Mrs. Bauernfeind went on to say, “What inspires me to continue my craft is the kids.  Each year I get a new set of kids, a new set of personalities and a new set of minds to mold.  No day or year is the same and I love that.  The relationships that are built with the students and watching them grow is worth every minute, every trial and tribulation.”

Mrs. Nancy Ankrom has been at Wood Middle School for the last 32 years.  She graciously accepted the recognition as the 2017 Wood Middle School Campus Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Ankrom has gone above and beyond to help all students, staff and her beloved campus.  Mrs. Androm has proudly taught thousands of children, helping them to love math and even many current teachers as they came through the halls of Wood Middle School.

Congratulations to both ladies, the recognition is well deserved!
