Remember: Civil Rights

To think and to believe that one is inferior to another due to something as simple as race or skin color seems so absurd. Now we think of this as wrong and horrid. The Civil Rights Movement changed our view of people and our perspective of the surrounding human beings that are a part of our lives. We still live amongst racism and discrimination against certain people. Though we may not know it, our lives are affected by these things.

Below is a poem. Read it, feel it, don’t just see it…

Violent scenes I replay in my head
Over and over with the many screams that I dread
Into the darkness of discrimination
Continuing their most evil sensation
Even the most simplest decision
Segregation soon ruins the vision
