Inside Teens Minds

Pain, depression, and confusion are all parts of a teens life. Some parents don’t notice when their child is in one of these states, mostly because teens hide their emotions. They get worried that their parents will get mad at them or just think they are lieing.

I used to be scared to go home because i was worried i’d get yelled at or punished or hit. this lasted from the fifth through seventh grade years,  it escalated over the years. My pain and confused got even worse every tame i was hit and every time i was cursed. I learned to hide it all out of fear that i would get in trouble for even crying. “We don’t cry in this family! We don’t show weakness not in this house!” My mom didn’t noticed, my dad didn’t  care. All I had was my friends by my side. Depression can have a major effect on a teens future, mental state, and life.

Teens and pre-teens may look physically fine and put up a mask to hide their feelings. Parents need to be able to tell if their child is in distress by their body-language, attitude, and how much they care about things that normally mean a lot to them. Teachers should also be able to tell if something is wrong with their student, if they suspect something is wrong they need to either tell a councilor or the students parents.

So I say that parents should always ask how their child’s day went, get to know them on the inside, and try to help them. Don’t ignore your children even if they seem fine you never know what’s going on in their head. There could always be drama weather its  basic or intense.
