In the Atlantic Ocean, lionfish populate with more fish which is a new invasion. And the lionfish don’t even know it. But with the lionfish there, they could wipe out 90% of the whole reef. So this makes it a bad thing for the other fish because the lionfish has no predators.

When they are one year old, they become mature. Lionfish produce 30,000 to 40,000 eggs every few days so they multiply fast. Graham Maddocks, president and founder of Ocean Support Foundation, says,”The lionfish invasion is probably the worst environmental disaster the Atlantic will ever face.”

Lionfish will soon take over the reef. And we are the only ones that can stop them, sadly. So every day people are going into the reef, killing lionfish to save the fish. Next time you think about lionfish, I hope you worry about them.
