Beginning February 6th we will be offering tutoring after school to help students achieve success on their upcoming Science STARR test. The dates are 2/6, 2/13, and 2/20 for organisms and the environment tutoring. The dates 2/27, and 3/6 for matter and energy tutoring.The dates 3/20, and 3/27 for Force, Motion, and Energy tutoring. Also the dates 4/3, 4/10, and 4/17 for Earth and Space tutoring. These sessions will be held in room 2023, the science STAAR test is April 24th. You will get a small snack during these tutoring sessions. A late bus form and tutoring permission slip are in your science teachers room.

Tomorrow, Saturday 9, the Driscoll MathCounts team will be heading to St. Mary’s University for the MathCounts Competition. The MathCounts team consists of Adrian Berumen, Jeff Unser, Rachel Juneu-Zimmerman, and Team Captain Sarah Morgan. They will be in both individual and team competitions, and listen to a guest speaker after competing. Then the top ten matheletes will go in the last knockout round to be the overall winner!

As you may have known, Driscoll hosted the Solo and Ensemble contest last week. Our Driscoll Orchestra was very successful, earning 31 gold medals and 14 silver medals for the solos. We had 20 gold and 12 silver medals for the ensembles. We had multiple Outstanding Performances, including the Large Ensemble of Fiddles and Frolic, Karianne Chupp, and Diego Cruz. Congatulations to all who participated!

Yesterday, the 8th graders from Honors Orchestra, Honors Choir, Honors Band, and Theatre Arts  students visited Madison high school. They are had the opportunity to watch Madison’s theater arts perform the famous tale of Beauty and the Beast. The play was based off the Disney version, and incorporated singing, acting, and dancing.

Tomorrow, 2/8/13 we will be having a pep rally for the A-B honor roll students.

The theme will be rodeo, so,wear your best rodeo outfit tomorrow!!
