As some of you may know, our fearless leader, Ms. Aceves-Torres, has accepted a position with NEISD as the Head Principal at Madison HS. We will miss her dearly and wish her the best! Good luck at Madison HS! Go Mavs!

This past Saturday our 7th grade girls played in a basketball tournament held at Driscoll. They played well and Coach Richmond was very pleased with the effort. Next game is this Wednesday, Jan 16th vs Krueger, 7th home and 8th is away.

8th grade boys played against Wood MS this past Thursday. It was a great game and our boys erased a 12 point lead. Great game guys!

On Wednesday, December 19th, our girls 8th grade hosted White MS in a district game. All our teams played great and are steadily improving. Attached are some photos from the games. No games until January 2013!

On Wednesday night, Driscoll Middle School celebrated its’ 20 year anniversary.

The night was filled with great music from our band, under the direction of Mr Gonzalez and Ms Condit, and they kept our crowd entertained. The Concert Band also played in the cafeteria, as food from Las Palapas was fed to the crowd.

The ceremony started at 6pm in the Defender Gym and was led by our Principal, Ms Aceves-Torres. She introduced our guest speakers: Melinda Navarro from the Daughters of the Republic of  Texas, Michael Chadwell, a 6th grader from the first 6th grade class in 1992, and Shirley Kearns, our first Principal in 1992. Also in attendance, our Superintendent-Dr  Brian Gottardy, Associate Superintendent Dan Villarreal, and three former principals: Shirley Kearns, Dr. Kaye Fenn , and Peter Martinez. All our guest speakers gave great speeches.

Ms Aceves-Torres also recognized our 20 Year Honorees/Teachers: Margaret Erickson, Rosa Medina, Jeff Meyer, Kim Post, and Sharon Strahan.

The evening concluded with the unveiling of our Memory Wall and the Silent Auction in the cafeteria.

Thanks to all that attended our ceremony!
