Fredrick Jones(7) works with 2nd period theater arts class, and thinks that the news is important to watch.

Do you know what is going on in the Middle East? Do you know we’re voting for president in November? Do you know about West Nile disease? Most students don’t know. Is it important? “Yes it is important because it can effect your future and your family’s future” said Coach Dooley.

A lot of students don’t watch the news. Joshua Leija (7) says, “No, I do not watch the news because most of it is boring.”

Do you think there should be a news station for kids, and tell us what is going on but not in full detail? “It is important to watch the news because you need to know what is happening in our environment.” said Mrs. Rodriguez. Make sure to watch the news because you don’t know everything. Like they say, you learn something new every day.

The Competition Starts

The TV show the X Factor is based on people’s talent in singing. People all over the world audition to show the judges what they got, the award is one million dollars and a record deal. But first they have to go through the judges: Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, L.A. Reid, and last but not least the toughest judge, Simon Cowell. They test the contestants to see if they have what it takes to be in the show and move on to the finals and if you don’t well it’s going to be tough. But first you have to wait. The X Factor travels all over the world to see people audition. For example they go to Texas, California, Phoenix, Washington, and more.  Also if you want to catch a glimpse of the show it starts 9/19 and 9/20 at 7:00. Some students are going to watch the X Factor. For example Brenda Saldana (8) says she likes the show. “I love to sing and it inspires me to one day be a singer and tryout for the show.” Also Tionne Marshall (8) says it’s a great show because it’s a chance for people to show their talent and, “one day I would audition because I have the X Factor.” Like Brenda, and Tionne many people have the same dream. They want to be famous and show their talent on national TV.  Before you start making attempts to be on the show you should practice try hard and never give up if that’s what you really want to do.

Back to School, Back to Reality

You turn on your TV and see those familiar “back to school” commercials. You go to your local super market and see all these offers and deals on school supplies.  And whether you like it or not; you come to the realization that a new school year is here.

Even if you’re an 8th grade soon-to-be high schooler, a new 6th grade Yearling, or a 7th grader caught in the middle of everything there’s no doubt it will be a great year at Garner.  According to Adam Martinez (7), he’s looking forward to a lot more learning time this year.  He also says, “I was nervous on the first day.  I didn’t want to get any tardies.”

There are many brand new volleyball girls and football guys working hard to represent their school in the best way possible by winning games. “I can’t wait to play football this year,” James Denton (7) explains.

So no matter what you’re doing this year at Garner, try hard at everything you do and you’ll succeed.  Have a great year!
