Final Thoughts

My favorite article that I wrote this year is probably “Party Time,” because that was a really fun article to write. It was about Fiesta and other traditions we have in San Antonio. Also it was interesting hearing what other people thought about Fiesta.

One of the many things that I like about Garner is the school colors. About this time of year my favorite thing about school is seeing my friends. In most of my classes we’re doing projects.

I hope that the school improves the computers that the yearbook and newspaper staff uses. A few of the school lunches are icky, if we could make them better that’d be awesome.  Lasty if we could be less strict on school uniformed jackets.

Party Time

Fiesta first started in 1891 as one-parade event in San Antonio. The funds from Fiesta events provide services to citizens in San Antonio.  Fiesta began to honor the heroes that helped during the Battle of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto, but now it’s sort of used to just celebrate the year. Mixed people always come to Fiesta for food and a good time.

Some of the people who help get Fiesta together are volunteers and the Mayor. Everybody could come to Fiesta even if you’re not in San Antonio; some people just come for the fun and then leave after. There is the night parade with floats lights and dancers and the day parade is just the same but without the lights. Kids and parents of all ages come and have fun at Fiesta.

Fiesta is on April 11 this year which is a Friday and the second week of April and lasts till the 21. Fiesta is very fun and shows people different people’s heritages from their perspective. Fiesta is at least two weeks long, and another event that is coming up in April is Easter. “Fiesta is amazing and fun for our family”.- Zoe Rothlein (8)

Winter Sports 2014

The Olympics are competitive and a very cutthroat competition.  Some people actually from Garner believe they are going to the Olympics.  The Olympics is fun and also hard for some people but for others its fun. The winter Olympics were held in Sochi, Russia this year.

The US has so far have won 5 gold medals.  Some of the sports are Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Freestyle skiing, Nordic combining, Figure skating, and Ice hockey. The Olympics officially end on February 28, 2014.

“I watched the Olympics, but then I got kind of bored so I went outside.”- Harleigh Watson, 8th.  Some people don’t like watching the Olympics because they just think it’s boring. “It’s okay if you like watching sports but I don’t.”- Grace Kim, 7th.
