Garner Gets Gorgeous

By Lucia

With Garner having a student population of around 930 students and being 51 years old this year, we need to patch up our school a little. New improvements have already been made such as an added salad bar (pictutred), a new marquee, and new paint to liven up the old classrooms and exterior. “Other improvements should be made soon, such as fixing up the courtyard and repainting the Yearling statue.”-Taylor Tooke (8th). Our new left and right lines, and ‘in’ and ‘out’ doors have made it easier to go to and from our destinations faster. Some things in the school are still in place, like our old gym, auditorium, and our 500, 600, 700, and 800 hallways. New additions within the last six years would be our beautiful science building and a new gym and fine arts area. Last year when this new gym arrived, students were surprised about how well things turned out. More than 1/3 of Garner Yearlings go to the new salad bar.  “Actually the community will go in for an election called the ‘Bond Election’ taking place November 8, which asks if the tax payers in this district would like to pay a little more property tax to help the district.  Some of the money would go to build a whole new Garner” says Mr. Ben Peterson (asst. principal). For more information about this Bond election you can log on to NEISD.net. As the years go by, Garner will hopefully continue getting gorgeous.
