Garner Football

The 8th Grade Garner Yearlings have recently had their first football game in the rain against Wood Middle school this past Tuesday. The rain, like the Yearlings, came down on the opposing team without warning. The A team came down with a win of over 16 points, but the B team wasn’t as successful. While without a win, their strong defensive line stopped Wood from scoring in a 0-0 tie. The weather was an issue, but not for Garner. Although the ball was slippery, the A team did not make one fumble and powered through the rain for the win.

Track Season

This track season felt so short this year. It felt like there were more track meets last year than there where this year. This year I’m the fastest person in our 8th girls track team. This means I run our relays and that I’m the 4th leg. Our 4 by 1 and 4 by 2 is the fastest events for sprinting. We are doing better than we were last year which is great. For the first time last week we came in second place; it was exciting. In my 200 meter dash I came in 4th place in our small schools. This Wednesday is the Meet of Champs. We had to come in 1st – 4th place to be able to qualify. Since we came in 4th for our 4 by 1 and 2 in our 4 by 2, and I came in 4th for my 200. We will be going to the meet which is the four fastest big zone schools and the four fastest for the small zones. I hope we at least place for the meet because the big zone schools are really fast.
