Scoring Goals While Making an Entrance: Not A Problem for Lady Jags

By Staff Writer Natalie Allen

Our varsity soccer girls have proven that they can be victorious in games and clean up for prom all in one remarkable night.

“It was stressful we had to get ready really quick because me and Lindsey had to be there for prom court on time. We had to do our own hair and make-up and my mom did my nails. It wasn’t the normal prom situation but it was fun,” senior and varsity captain Sharis Iachappelle said.

Fortunately, the commotion didn’t ruin our champion’s night.

“I mean I don’t think I’ve ever gotten ready so fast before. It wasn’t that bad actually – I thought it was going to be worse. I still had a really fun time at prom,” senior and varsity captain Lindsey Holland said.

The girls have been doing phenomenal this season and they got to show off their success during our prom court crowning.

“I brought the trophy but I left it in the car because I thought it would be really dumb to bring it in with me. Mr. Melbrech came and found me though and was like, ‘Go to your car and get it.’ So he made me bring it in,” Lachapelle said.

The Lady Jaguars received great recognition for their historical achievements in varsity girls soccer since the establishment of the school.

“Sharis and I were both on court so she was the last one to come in. Mr. Melbrech made an announcement and she was carrying the trophy and everyone was really excited. It was awesome,” Holland said.

The team is advancing to their next competition this Friday and the support the school has shown is motivating the girls for another win.

“I don’t think words can describe how excited we are. We’re pretty nervous but I think everyone gets nervous about this, but it’s going to be a great experience no matter what.”
