Johnson athletes will represent their school at the regional track meet, which will be held on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 at Alamo Stadium. Boys track coach, Mike Dutson, has high hopes for the team that he has been with for 3 years.

“This year’s regionals will be a little different than last year’s because last year’s was really our first opportunity to take multiple athletes there,” Dutson said.

The entire track season has been a great success for Johnson, which became especially apparent after the district meet when all four teams (Varsity boys and girls, JV boys and girls) won the meet. Now, the athletes will compete beyond their own district. The boys who will be competing in the meet are: Steven Warren, Jacob Lady-Schreiber, Kyle Brown, Zack Bradley, Chase Koll, Zack Prevost, Cameron Williams, Malachi Bauman, Romero Sylverster, Phillip Mayberry, Sean Steir, Morris Olumba, Darian McElhannon, and David Nosuru.

“A lot of our athletes have been to regionals before, so they know what to expect,” Dutson said. “I think that year of experiece is going to be big for them and I think we have a good shot to make it to the finals.”
