The Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AJROTC) invites the community to their inaugural Veterans Day All-Skills Meet on Saturday, November 12th. Spectators can expect to see some of the best local and distant high school drill teams, individual and tandem drillers. Color Guards, physical fitness enthusiasts and academic teams from schools as far as Houston, and Corpus Christi will be competing at the meet alongside Johnson’s own AJROTC students. There is no charge to attend, though JROTC parent boosters will be selling BBQ sandwiches and other food items for hungry visitors.

The Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AJROTC) recognized Veterans Day on November 11 with their fourth “Remember the Vet” parade. The ceremony was held on the Johnson’s track and football area at 8 A.M., and was directed by the cadets. It included a history of why we recognize Veterans Day. Additionally, SFC (R) Wayne Lund, a distinguished combat Vietnam Veteran and member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, served as guest speaker. The parade included the cadets of the “Extreme Success – Nothing Less” battalion and Johnson’s award-winning choir, dance and cheer groups. The cadets provided “Buddy Poppies” for all veterans in the audience and to others who wanted to show their support for our veterans.
