Johnson baseball has once again made a name for themselves by winning district and making the playoffs.

Last year the season ended with a loss to Corpus Christi Carroll in the second round of the playoffs. This year will hopefully, provide different and better results. They dominated Seguin in the first round of this years playoffs and they now will match up with South San in the second round. During the regular season, the Jags beat south san in tournament play. All season long, the Jags have been dominating teams and beating the top squads, Reagan and Churchill.

“Our expectations for playoffs were set high after winning district, we would like to get to state,” Coach Gordon Gesell said.

Expectations are high for the Jags coming off their district championship. They also have a more experienced team to provide a deep playoff run. Even though many seniors are missed from last seasons team, they still have the talent needed to go far this post-season. Being the number one team in the city a third round playoff trip is nothing short of expected. The second round starts friday the 11th at South San with game two being on Saturday, and game three on Sunday if necessary.

“I think we are playing some of our best baseball right now and we look to have a tough fought series against South San,” Sesell said
