Main Event becomes a place of employment for Johnson students, as well as a haven for recreation and fun.

The Main Event, now located in the Legacy Shopping Center, is the newest location to their already growing family of businesses centered in Texas. Like a mix between Dave and Busters and Mr. Gatti’s, the Main Event is a gaming and entertainment center meant for all ages.

Upon walking in, it is easy to say that the place is popular. Even for a Tuesday night, there was a pretty good turn out. There is no charge to get into the Main Event, but every game or food purchased is taken off of a “FunCard”. This card can have any dollar amount put on it, have its balance checked at any time, and be reused. Games are $.50 -$.75, and there are about 30 arcade games. You’re allowed to eat and drink while playing, and points are stored on your fun card, so you don’t have to worry about carrying bunches of tickets around. Points are redeemed at a prize center with a plethora of toys. Along with the arcade games, the Main Event has a few more attractions to offer. There’s a zero gravity ropes course than spans above the arcade, where dare-devils are harnessed in and must complete a colorful, neon rope course. In addition, the building has about 12 bowling lanes with big screen projectors, and a laser tag course. The building also has a restaurant, which resembles a Chili’s menu, with hamburgers, pizzas, and salads, pool tables, and an area for parents to stay while their kids play.

Senior Caroline Connor works at the Main Event.

“They opened because they were looking to expand into south Texas. It’s fun because all of the people [that I know] that work there. The best part is that I always have a good time when I’m working,” Connor said.
