The Johnson baseball season is set to get underway on February 19 against Judson. However,  the Jags will have scrimmages on February 4, 8, and 12. The Jags are also ranked fourth in the preseason city rankings.

Senior Zack Hammer, says he’s “excited for Baseball to start.”

“We are very confident heading into the season even though we lost key players,” junior Tanner Wall said.

The Jags have a lot of raw talent and will be in a similar position next season due to the loss of 3 players, Connor Gesell, Randy Stuart, and Mark Whitehead, who will be playing college baseball next year.

“I am anxious and excited for the upcoming season and we are working hard every single day,” senior Zach Hammer said.

The team is very optimistic about improving from last season by winning a state championship and their district games. The Jags believe that they have a strong chance to accomplish all their goals this season.

“I am looking forward to winning our district games against our rivals the most this season,” junior Tanner Wall said.

The Jag baseball coaches, Gordy Gesell, Kelly Parker, and Dustin Holland  are ready for another successful season; and serve as the core of training and optimism for the team this spring.

“I am energized and excited for the season because baseball is a big part of my life,” senior Randy Stuart said.

The Jags are licking their chops as the start of the season is approaching at a rapid pace, so make sure you get to a game and support Johnson baseball.
