Johnson varsity softball defeated Reagan 14-3 on April 9 to improve their record to 20-6(9-1), and put in position to win the district title. Senior Melanie Roe helped lead the team to victory by pitching striking out 6 and only allowing 3 runs in 5 innings, and sophomore Brittany Muller led the team in batting by getting 4 hits and scoring 4 runs.

“We have played very well this season and are on pace to get the one seed in the playoffs,” Roe said.

The team is looking ahead toward the district playoffs, and hoping to lock up the top seed, and trying to achieve their goal of winning the district title.

“We have the ability to go very far in the district playoffs this year,” freshman Taylor Drury said.

All of the players and coaches work very hard to get the team prepared for each game.

“We go over our strategy before the game and play the way we would against any other team,” Roe said.

The Jags have played very well in both district and non-district schedule.

“We have played great so far this year, and we are looking forward to the district playoffs,” Drury said.

Next up for the team is a game against Lee on April 5, their second to last game before the district playoffs.

“We have played great so far this season,” Drury said “but we still have to focus and get ready for every game.”
