Teachers leaving JHS this May for other opportunities

The end of the year always brings news of  teachers who will be leaving to pursue other opportunities – and 2013 is no different.

“I have been teaching at Johnson since the 2010-2011 school year, it has all around a positive and a learning experience not only for the students, but for myself also,” David Bloss said.

Teachers have been through various challenges and highlights throughout their teaching career at Johnson.

“I’ve always enjoyed my time at Johnson, I enjoy teaching students as well as coaching them in soccer to help prepare them for life outside of school, and to become better people not only academically, but in the real world as well,” coach Mike South said.

Through the years of teaching, there have been many memories and great experiences in which teachers realize they have chosen the right profession and have done their job effectively.

I’ve had various highlights through teaching but the best part is realizing and helping students understand a concept, it’s a really awesome feeling seeing the light bulb go off and be able to contribute greatly to their learning process,” Bloss said.

Although becoming a teacher is a tedious process, it is generally recognized early on when the students decide they want to become a teacher.

“I was excited for becoming a teacher because I knew it could lead to more opportunities like coaching,” South said.

While almost all of teacher’s experiences are positive, like all good things, they have to come to an end.  However the memories and experiences from teaching will always be remembered.

“Well at my age I just realized that I needed to hang it up and settle down, I’ve really enjoyed teaching and my time at Johnson high school, but I feel that I need to be able to spend more time with my family,” Bloss said.
