You need to do these 3 things before summer ends

by Lauryn Chavez | staff writer

As Phineas and Ferb once said “The annual problem for our generation is finding a good way to spend it [summer],” so the productivity of our summers are of great importance because our worst fear is not taking full advantage of the time off school. We’ll be going back to school so it’s important to feel like you had a good summer because once that time has come and gone you can be content with going back and continuing with your studies knowing that you can wait for summer to come around next year. Here are some things that are essential for having a good time this summer.

  1. Self Care

Although all nighters and binge watching are fun things to do your overall health is what should be considered before every decision you make. All the fun things you do in summer should be done in moderation. You should always set time aside for self care, whether that’s taking some quiet time to read, going for early morning runs, or even talking to a friend that you haven’t seen in a while. Taking care of yourself is key. Despite self care being something we should all practice it’s often overlooked. Sometimes we never really analyze how we feel physically and emotionally. This summer we can all use some time to practice self care as it might have been hard to start doing within the school year.

2. Spending time with friends and family

While it is very easy to melt away in the dark corners of your house and watch netflix all summer it’s important to maintain the relationships you have with friends and family. Making time for the people you care about will allow you to make more fun memories that you’ll look back on in the future. And when you reach out and hangout with your friends it’ll show how them how much you care. Balancing time with friends and time with your family may be hard to do, but with two whole months of  summer vacation it is more than possible.

3. Keep Practicing!

If you play sports or instruments you need to continue practicing throughout the summer. The worst thing to do would be to not practice anything throughout the summer. By continuously working towards a goal this summer you can go back into school and be ready to start your season. If you truly enjoy your sport or instrument it’ll be easy to make a habit of practicing at least once each day. To lose touch with what you do during the school year can have negative effects on your placement as well as your confidence.

Overall it’s important to have a fulfilling summer. This summer make time for yourself, the people you care about, and the things you love. Have a great summer and make the most of it while it lasts.
