Amongst the hoorah of fall football season, there is another, slightly forgotten, yet highly talented, competition going on in the fine arts hallway. At the end of each school year, the marching band program starts with the pre-drills of the ever so rigorous marching band routine.
This year the band has incorporated an Alice in Wonderland theme featuring the journey down the rabbit hole.
With the number of days left in the school year dwindling into the single digits, some students that are involved in extracurriculars are preparing for a busy summer of on-campus activities. Many organizations on campus hold summer rehearsals or camps in order to allow the new students to meet the older kids and to prepare the students for the upcoming school year.
If you’re looking for a band kid, you can probably find us in the band hall, whether we’re practicing, doing homework, or making inside jokes that you likely won’t understand.
Tears fill her eyes as she remembers the sixth grader who picked up the instrument for the first time, the freshman at her first marching band rehearsal, and the senior walking the stage at graduation. After six years of taking the field in uniforms of Columbia blue, the marching band is showing off a new style. And, the new look has a few surprises in store.
There is an abundance of twins at Johnson. Some twins are alike, some are different, and others meet in the middle, having just enough of their own personality to not get mistaken for their twin.
As the weather gets colder, the band marches to an end of their season, and, as schedules free from 8 hours of practice, students fill their time with friends, work, or more band.
